The C.O.P.S. Are Coming

“omg ant edith plz help me like my frends wont txt me wot do i do?”

-Icantspellfolyfe1234

Translation:

“Oh my goodness, Aunt Edith, please help me. My friends won’t text me. What do I do?”

-ICan’tSpellForLife1234

Dear Icantspellfolyfe1234,

I can’t imagine why, Lady Jane. Here’s a helpful hint:

COPS

Capitalization

Organization

Punctuation

Spelling

Let me break it down for you:

Capitalization

When you make the beginning of a sentence start with an uppercase letter, this is called capitalization. Capitalization also is useful for people’s names, important places, and other proper nouns.

Organization

You should put your words in an order that makes sense. For example, instead of. “@ da mall 2:43 snday,” consider: “Meet me at the mall on Sunday at 2:43.”

Punctuation

Commas, periods, exclamation points, and question marks all are part of punctuation. Your messages are easier to read when you put pauses in them.

Spelling

Yeah, yeah you have spellcheck. But sometimes spell check does NOT say what you meant…

Let’s Practice

hi hower u im god wots math homwork do u no

Hi hower u Im god wots math homwork do u no

Hi hower u Im god do u no the math homwork

Hi, hower u? Im god. Do u no the math homwork?

Hi, how’re you? I’m good. Do you know the math homework?

Elders

This counts for you too, people 30 or older! It’s even more annoying when you do it! I don’t even know what you’re trying to say (cough, cough, my son)!

With Love,

Aunt Edith

P.S. I love to hear from all my nieces and nephews out there! Please send questions that I DON’T need my great-grandson to translate for.
