Getting Cut

“Dear Aunt Edith,

I was cut from the play this year. I didn’t make tryouts for the basketball team. Should I even try out for anything anymore?”

-CutIntoShreds

Dear CutIntoShreds,

That was depressing to read. I’m going to tell you something you’ll need to know for the rest of your life. You will never be the best at anything. There will always he someone better than you. But you won’t always be the worst.

Talk to people. Talk to your drama teacher: Hi, Mr. Grossman. Is there a specific reason you cut me from the play? Talk to your basketball coach: Coach, is there anything I should work on before next season?

Practice. Practice. It can only help. And never give up. If you’re not good at acting, maybe join a singing club and just take part of the package. Try another sport.

Good luck.

With Love,

Aunt Edith

PS. Don’t forget to send me advice requests!
